Each summer, ABA members come together to give Arizona students the tools they need to learn and grow. Through the Annual Backpack Drive, the ABA Community Service Board provides school supplies and backpacks for children served by Children First Leadership Academy in Phoenix, RISE Services in Mesa, and Arizona Baptist Children’s Services in Tucson.
Your support helps students start the school year prepared and confident while reminding them that their community cares. Every donation makes a difference in helping children overcome challenges and focus on what matters most: learning, growing, and building a brighter future.

How Your Support Helps
You can make a direct impact on the lives of children supported by three Arizona organizations: Children First Leadership Academy, RISE Services, and Arizona Baptist Children’s Services and Ministries. Your donations provide the backpacks and supplies these students need to learn, grow, and succeed in school.
Children First Leadership Academy (Phoenix)
Children First Leadership Academy educates children from families facing severe economic challenges. All students and their families live at or below the poverty line, and many are homeless. The Phoenix campus serves approximately 250 students in grades K–6, providing not only education but also stability, care, and hope in difficult circumstances. Many students live in motels, shelters, or shared housing, and the school works tirelessly to meet their basic needs and support their growth.
RISE Services (Mesa)
RISE Services is a nonprofit organization that supports children in foster care, ages 0–18, who have experienced abuse, neglect, or other trauma. Foster families receive a small clothing allowance from the state, but no funding for school supplies. This drive helps provide essential items for approximately 250 children, giving them a sense of normalcy and readiness as they begin the school year.
Arizona Baptist Children’s Services (Tucson)
Arizona Baptist Children’s Services (ABCS) serves at-risk families across the state by addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. The Backpack Drive benefits children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect and are now living with foster families. These backpacks offer more than supplies. They provide comfort and a sense of belonging during a difficult transition to a new home and school.
How ABA Members Can Help
The ABA Community Service Board will purchase all supplies using monetary donations from members and supporters. Every contribution helps provide essential school supplies for children in need.
