The Project the YBC will be Touring: Bateman Physical Sciences Center H Wing Renovation Jobsite Tour
Join us for an exclusive look inside the transformation of the Arizona State University Bateman Physical Sciences Center H Wing, a major renovation project designed to support the university’s growing academic and research mission. Originally constructed in 1991, this $115 million modernization will revitalize more than 131,000 square feet of research, instructional, and administrative space on ASU’s Tempe campus.
The project includes the renovation of 17 wet laboratories, 15 dry laboratories, 24 office spaces, classrooms, and supporting facilities, creating a more flexible, efficient, and technologically advanced environment for research and learning. Significant upgrades to the building’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, accessibility, life-safety, and exterior envelope systems will enhance reliability and expand the facility’s capacity to support cutting-edge scientific research for decades to come.
Led by Mortenson Company in partnership with BWS Architects, this complex renovation showcases the challenges and opportunities involved in modernizing active higher education research facilities while extending the life of a critical campus asset. Construction began in December 2025 and is scheduled for completion in July 2028.
This tour offers a unique opportunity to explore the project’s innovative construction solutions, infrastructure improvements, and the future of research space development at Arizona State University.
